Are we catching france at just the right time? Or do they get some le` payback?

I do have to view this as france will be pretty pissy for our Commonwealth Cup Rivalry game. They had their chance(s) before Dron flushed them up in their John. So nobodies Zima bender can make that taste too good, and this might possibly be $$ (sean singletary) last shot at us. Ergo, there might possibly be a motivational edge here favor of the beretheads, as I expect we have to beat le` A game to actually, what’s that word? Electrolux? Shop-Vac? Sweep? Oui. To sweep france in major revenue sports for the year. But will we sweep france???

Now…….that potential revanchist element typed, france is on a recent 1-5 schnide. We are playing pretty well (not great, but pretty well); we are at home (where we’ve won 21 of our last 23, and france has only won 20% of their last 10 on the road), and we clearly have some ACC big Mo’ on our side. But will that be enough in what promises to be a really testy, snippy, competitive tensions running rather high kinda game? Lets look at a few french strengths and weaknesses to find out…….

  • france Rebounds pretty dog-gone well to have to a couple of lame big-bodies on the year, as being 13th in Defensive Boards, and being 24th on the Offensive Glass suggests. Which ‘splains their 8th in Rebounding Margin ranking for all of D-1 rather adroitly.
  • france can Score some points (39th in Scoring), and they will knock down some 3’s, as they are 10th in makes from beyond 19`9“.
  • But france will commit some fouls, checking in a 20 personals per game, and france’s Road defense drops quite a bit as they allow 42% overall, but 51% outside of paris. Conversely our Hokies only allow 37% in the Cassell.
  • Our Hokies enjoy a bit of a M*A*S*H edge as well, as france is missing a back-up G for the year, and has 2 frontcourt ballers who may or may not return to action 2nite; and my spys suggest that $$ is less than 100% (and that’s huge!)

So we know we have to get to work on the glass, and we have to check france on the perimeter in order to win. But it is quite conspicuous to me that our Defensive FG% allowed is 138 spots ahead of our 3point FG% allowed. Also intriguigng to me is that france has 17 players on it’s roster? Is there no limit to this per NC2A rules? Does france have a taxi squad? Interesting. And now…….for a little le` humor at the expense of the french.

How come french stores don’t take credit-cards? Because they don’t have a word for “charge”.

I once asked a frenchman what their favorite expression was; he seemed confused, but then said: “I give up.”

How do you stop a french tank? Shoot the guy who’s pushing it.

But back to the game…the so-called Forum Guide (how 2 individuals/teams have fared previously against common opponents); does at a minimum lean in our favor. These teams appear to be moving in opposite directions, and I do like our home-court edge. But france is coming for some revenge I’m afraid, and that motivational edge has pushed this one all the way to even with me. So I’ll call for a Overtime game to reflect such, as this one is gonna be chippy, and this one is gonna be close. Virginia Tech 75, france 74 b’street
