Tech Thoughts: Virginia Tech football’s next Qb1?

Virginia Tech football just had a great N.f.l. day; and probably a pretty bad 2017 seasonal adjustment in R.A.T.T. Atlantic Coast Collegiate terms. Godspeed to our early entries!footballl-logo-vt

The Evans, Bucky, Ford, Sam, and 100% of the right-side oLine departures are a critical offensive-based talent downgrade. Make no mistake here sports-fans; you do not get better with 75% of your pitch-n-catch routine gone; 40% of your oLine gone, and 55% of your O gone overall. Still yet, someone has to win the Qb1 job, and what if that someone was actually not even on the 24060 campus this last fall? [Read more…]

Virginia Tech basketball preview Duke

#8 R.P.I. Duke @ #55 R.P.I. Virginia Tech:duke-logo

Virginia Tech basketball takes to the court vs. *the* Atlantic Coast barometer or inches of hooping mercury this Saturday afternoon down in the New River Valley.

The Dukies -or the alpha team that everyone loves to hate- is coming to town and Virginia Tech roundball is about to find out just how good Virginia Tech basketball truly is. Or not; as this years Duke incarnation sure looks loaded for bear to me. Yes, the Plumlee era is finally over, my Lakers have Ingram, and yet don’t cry for me Argentina or anything Cameron. As the incoming crop of Duke recruit’s only amassed a hardwood constellation or twenty-seven, that’s (27) stars among them! Duke storms our Cassell at 12 up and 1 down have having been upset by a single shot by #7 Kansas. In what will be the A.c.c. regular season opener for each team; nonetheless who will win? Read on to find, out…

Virginia Tech football Belk Bowl Preview Arkansas

#48 R.P.I. Arkansas vs. #23 R.P.I. Virginia Tech:belk-seating-chart

Virginia Tech football goes bowling on Thursday afternoon vs. the University of Arkansas. At ~5:30pm, on ESPN, in the 75,412 Bank of America Stadium down in Charlotte North Carolina, as an -8 point betting fave.

Precisely 173.4 miles from Blacksburg, Va., or about a two hour and forty-five minute drive; give/take.

Intrinsically speaking, this is as close as Virginia Tech football can ever hope to get as a home-game goes in post-season terms. Though is this really the shoe-in or obvious O&M ticker-tape VicTory party that everyone is already saying and picking it to be? I’m not as sure, as these 7 up and 5 down 2016 Arkansas Razorbacks played Jekyll-and-Hyde football all season long. So will I be homogeneously slotting this game the same? This of course segues us into today’s word of the day… [Read more…]

Virginia Tech football Duke Eye in the Sky

Virginia Tech football went out onto the A.c.c. road where you historically win ~30% of the time and coach-Fu won a close one for the Hokie Nation of  Virginia Tech.

another VT win was right on... target!

another VT win was right on… target!

The Hokies did what they had to do, and gutted out a VicTory vs. a grim, gutty, and gamey Duke Football squad in Duke’s very own backyard. This win may not have been sexy, pretty and it did not generate a facebook social media friendly Q-score –as the issue was in doubt for the third week in a row for the balance of the fourth quarter; and for the second game in a row, right down to the proverbial wire. Still yet, the Hokie Bird and Virginia Tech have nosed out yet another win and Virginia Tech still controls its very own Coastal Divisional destiny. Let’s just hope we have enough petrol left in the O&M tank to do so, as an already banged-up V.P.I. football squad came away no healthier for their winning Wallace Wade troubles… [Read more…]

Virginia Tech football Pittsburgh Panther preview

#27 R.P.I. Virginia Tech @ #32 R.P.I. Pittsburgh:

Virginia Tech football takes to the road Thursday night on ESPN at 7pm to take on my home town of Pittsburgh Pa., Bimbo’s pizza, South Hills Village, Upper Saint Clair H.S., and Iron City Lite. (And maybe a 9,000 calorie Primanti sammwich to wash it all down) This of course segues us neatly into yet another word of the day…pitt-logo

Today’s word of the day is… dyspepsia

(dĭs-pĕp′shə, -sē-ə)

  1. Disturbed digestion;
  2. indigestion.
  3. Let’s hope the Hokie Bird don’t go: “burp” at ~11pm!

Virginia Tech football Syracuse preview

#20 R.P.I. Virginia Tech @ #1o5 R.P.I. Syracuse:

Virginia Tech football hits the road for a 3:45pm Saturday afternoon date in Will’s much ballyhooed “Jiffy Pop Dome” in mid-state New York. The game is on ESPN and our beloved Hokies are a 20 point favorite in this one. Or in other words, good ole V.P.I. really should win this one and they could, -possibly even should- win this one going away. This segues us neatly into today’s word of the day…cuse-logo

Today’s word of the day is… opus.

ˈəʊpəs; ˈɔp-)
