Virginia Tech basketball preview uva

 #4o R.P.I. Virginia Tech @ #13 R.P.I. virginia:

Virginia Tech basketball visits hateful uva Wednesday night at 8pm on The A.c.c. Network; (check your local listings).

The boo-hoos of uva have been pretty dang crispy in hoops for a number of years and 2o17 is no exception to that— as the gridiron nadir cavaliers have ruled over Virginia Tech in roundball terms less one game last year for quite some time. The hoos enter this one at 16 up and 4 down overall and 6-2 in Atlantic Coast terms. Thus ranks uva #11 nationally and this is the first of two dates in three games or twice in less than 11 days if you are keeping chronometer score at home. As any game with the hoos is a big big deal in Commonwealth Cup terms; much less twice inside of a fortnight. Although hoo or should I say who will win this one up in C’ville Va.? Keep on reading to find …out.

Virginia Tech basketball Boston College preview

#184 R.P.I. Boston College @ #36 R.P.I. Virginia Tech:

Virginia Tech basketball hosts Boston College on Sunday evening in the made for TV Atlantic Coast Conference Sunday night game for the Black Effect game at 6:30 PM, on ESPNU.

The Flying Eagles swoop into our Cassell perched at a very modest looking 8 up and 12 down overall and a clipped 2-6 inside the A.c.c. In point of fact, Boston College has won one game since New Year’s Day going one for their last seven most recent contests. This makes Boston College a binary clash, at least in my book. As most of the hooping cognoscenti would agree, Boston College is the zeta team or fifteenth best in an Atlantic Coast race of 15. The good news is we do play them twice before 2017 ends; the real news is that both games are must wins if Coach Buzz and company wanna give the NC2A’s so much as a sniff. As this is simultaneously our most likely remaining win and it is also a pure must win -all the more so at home- making this game a duality of likelihood and need or a binary match-up indeed. Nevertheless, who will win? Read on to find…. out.

Virginia Tech basketball preview North Carolina

#38 R.P.I. Virginia Tech @ #9 R.P.I. North Carolina:

Virginia Tech basketball travels down to Tobacco Road to take on big bad North Carolina basketball on the Thursday night ESPN flagship telecast at 8 o’clock.

The North Carolina Heels are a shinny looking 18 up and 3 down on the year and riding high checking in at 1st place in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings at 6-1 thus far. U.n.c. has been beaten by two traditional powerhouse ranked teams (#6 Kentucky 1oo-1o3 and #13 Indiana 67-76).  U.n.c. did get upset by fellow A.c.c. Georgia Tech 63-75 a little over a fortnight ago. U.n.c. does own two ranked wins vs. #16 Wisconsin 71-56 and in-conference #9 Florida State 96-83 just last week. However, U.n.c. is really good, they are still improving and yet they still seem to have a clunker of a game left in them …possibly, two. That rightfully said, U.n.c. is just a dickens of a match-up nightmare for Buzz and Co. down low, and nobody will want anything to do with these slightly limited though very large Heels once the pace of post-season play slows down in U.n.c.’s favor.

Virginia Tech basketball preview Clemson

#5o R.P.I. Virginia Tech @ #38 R.P.I. Clemson:

Virginia Tech basketball travels down to South Carolina to face the other sporting half of the Clemson Tigers revenue sports tandem on Sunday evening at 6:30pm on ESPNU.

The Tigers just did rather well for themselves in gridiron terms, and unless you live under a rock, or have recently been hit in the head by a rock… CONGRATS to A.c.c. Clemson and Dabo Swinney on their upsetting national championship win! This however is a basketball preview and in hoops the Tigers are a decent looking 11 up and 7 down so far on the year. Although Clemson is a last place 1-5 in Atlantic Coast play; having dropped five in a row after having blazed through nine consecutive wins right before that. That being said, those things happen when you are 1-6 vs. nationally ranked squads as this brutal opening schedule has had these Tigers by the tail. Who will win this Virginia Tech basketball game is another tale however indeed; read on to find, out…

Virginia Tech basketball preview Georgia Tech

#89 R.P.I. Georgia Tech @ #57 R.P.I. Virginia Tech:

Virginia Tech basketball concludes a trifecta of a three-game homestead vs. the other Atlantic Coast “Tech” on Wednesday night down in a pleasant by January standards New River Valley.gt-logo

The Wrambling Wreck of Georgia Tech attends at 11 up and 6 down on what has been a bit of an uneven if not yo-yo’ing Smothers Brothers kinda of year. As the Yellow Jackets have been stung by inconsistent play, or a lack of mid-range talent(s) beyond a fairly sprite Top-3 or four ballers. Georgia Tech is 3-2 in A.c.c. play and they have been much better at home down in the ATL than they have out on the road all season long. As Georgia Tech does present some difficult internal match-ups in the paint and they probably do court the best pure-Center in Atlantic Coast terms that you’ve never heard of. So this is an oddball match-up of sorts, although what you want to know is… who will win? Read on to find, out…

Virginia Tech basketball preview Notre Dame

#2o R.P.I. Notre Dame @ #46 R.P.I. Virginia Tech:

Virginia Tech basketball remains ensconced in the nearly downright warmed up New River Valley this Saturday afternoon at 2pm to host BIG name Notre Dame.irish-hoops-logo

The Irish are a pretty decent squad, checking in at a slightly surprising robust 15 up and only 2 down in a year that was forecast to be pretty good; though probably just short of, great. As most of my preseason wraps have Notre Dame in the upper third of the A.c.c., although there is a lack of agreement as to where or how high in Atlantic Coast terms specifically. The generic, overall, broad brush consensus seems to think that this is a post-season caliber team; though agreement as to which tourney of which ilk is again, hard to come by –as the hooping cognoscenti have some ranging opinions regarding these 2017 Irish. That being said, this game is at home, we have an advantage in rest, and  the 2016 Irish would have very likely beaten the 2017 Irish. So hopefully we are catching these Irish at just the right time.

Virginia Tech basketball preview Syracuse

#164 R.P.I. Syracuse  @ #48 R.P.I. Virginia Tech:

Virginia Tech basketball returns home after a truly beat-up looking -41 point double thrashing deficit out on the road.cuse-logo

The hooping Hokies will attempt to inflict some measure of gridiron revenge for their revenue O&M sporting brethren on Tuesday night down in a warming back up New River Valley. This may or may not be an easy thing to do, as the 10 up and 6 down Syracuse Orangemen seem to court a record that is chasing their statistical analysis. As in they have beaten the pants off of every little team they have played; every bit as much as they have truly struggled vs. nearly every single BIG name team they have faced thus far. This makes this a dicey game to call; as the Syracuse statistical variability here is far ranging, indeed.
