Virginia Tech basketball preview virginia cavaliers

#13 R.P.I. virginia @ #4o R.P.I. Virginia Tech:

Virginia Tech basketball hosts hateful uva Sunday night at 6:30pm on ESPNU (check your local listings).

The boo-hoos of uva have been pretty dang crispy in hoops for a number of years and 2o17 is no exception to that— as the gridiron nadir cavaliers have ruled over Virginia Tech in roundball terms less one game last year for quite some time. The hoos enter this one at 18 up and 5 down overall and 8-3 in Atlantic Coast terms. Thus ranks uva #12 nationally and this is the first of two dates in three games or twice in less than 11 days if you are keeping chronometer score at home. As uva beat us pretty dang bad (48-71) over in C’ville a couple of games back… now that being fairly said, virginia has been playing .5oo ball in the last two weeks and this basketball game is in our very own Cassell. So our homesteading odds have to be a little better here. As any game with the hoos is a big big deal in Commonwealth Cup terms; much less twice inside of a fortnight. Although hoo or should I say who will win this one down in the New River Valley? Keep on reading to find …out. [Read more…]

Virginia Tech football uva Eye in the Sky

Virginia Tech football opened up an entire gross, not a can, not a case, an entire 144 count or 12 dozen cans of vacuum packed Commonwealth Cup whoop-ass upside of the dweeby booHoos head on Saturday afternoon down in the New River Valley.

...this left a C'ville mark!

…this one left a C’ville mark!

The Hokies beat the damn breaks off of the university of virginia and if anything -and if this is actually possible- the Hokies beat uva worse than the final score showed. As Tech beat uva’s ass so hard and so long that I almost felt sorry for them; well; almost. As Mendenhall and company have shards to pick up after such a shattering total beat down curb-stomping defeat. Virginia Tech meanwhile resumes its rightful place in the Atlantic Coast Conference football championship game down in Orlando Florida vs. Clemson; whereas the cavaliers are left waiting on chess season or holiday zima 2.16 packs or whatever makes them feel sham important …after such an impotent day. As the Commonwealth gridiron gap has not felt this gaping in quite some time. [Read more…]

#2 overall, and 26 hyphen Duke (26-1) uva is up next up in The John. Where the 14-1uva hoop ball inside the Atlantic Coast Conference hoos will look to flush all things Virgina Tech.

uva is a very good basketball team and coach Tony Bennett is a men’s hoops Bud Foster corollary coach.

Gonna take a lot to beat uva on the road over in C’ville Va., as you have to think the cavaliers will remember how close our last outing vs. them truly was, and wish to do something about that on their very own home-court.

hoowever, uva is pretty dang beat-up in their starting backcourt, so if there is such as thing as catching the #2 ranked team overall … this is it!

 #2 R.P.I. virginia @ #235 R.P.I. Virginia Tech:

The team you all love to hate is up next as the #2 nationally ranked virginia cavaliers invade our very own Cassell Coliseum for this early-bird Sunday (1pm) afternoon tip.

In case you live under a rock, or have recently been hit in the head by a rock, this just in… at 17 up and nil down? uva is pretty damn good men. Perhaps even coach Tony Bennett’s (no relation) best incarnation yet.

And if there ever was a Bud Foster of men’s hoops, Tony Bennett and his much vaunted pack-line defense are surely it! As virginia just held Georgia Tech to 28 points. For, the, game!

Not for a given half of play –for the enter 40 minute men’s hoops contest.

oui-oui, me neither, as this one is not looking favorable indeed, although at least we still have football. As beating virginia in men’s hoops is prolly gonna have to wait.

The team you love to hate is on tap next. Hooever, will it be a depleted Virginia Tech men’s hoops team who gets to spit the bit and tap out?

Well, consider this … uva has 2 pre-season all-A.c.c. candidates per Lindy’s preview magazine. One 1st-team (Joe Harris) and one 2nd-string (Akli Mitchell); neither one of them is even having an honorable mention regular season, and yet uva is a mere ½ game outta first-place in Atlantic Coast Conference standing’s terms. You do the maths.

As my calculus shows that that is what is better known as coaching, the verb otherwise known as head coach Tony Bennett. This from what is factually said to be the biggest (front-line wise), and speculatively said to be the deepest and most talented roster that coach Bennett has ever courted up at C’ville Va. Or in other words, if you like offense, in particular O&M offense, you might wanna look somewhere else. As our O/U on team points might as well=5o in this one. As it does not take a whole lotta points to beat uva, though it may take you 1.5 games to score enough points to beat uva on a nightly basis in the first place.

Now that being said, we did finally break the seal and get up off of the 46 day L schnide! So we/Virginia Tech finally have at least a little big-Mo’ on our side heading into this Commonwealth Cup rivalry game. Although one could argue that #13 ranked uva has even mo’ big-Mo’ riding a 9 game win streak into this one; as these hoo’s have not been bested in their last 30 days either.

Frank Beamer: HOF coach, gone quarter-horse or Thoroughbred recruiter?

So Signing Day 2014 has come and gone; and the results are in…

Virginia Tech just finished with the 31st ranked incoming college D-1 football recruiting class in the entire nation according to ESPN.com. And with a measly 1 player in the ESPN top-300!

According to the Chris Horne’s TSL scorecard, once mighty Virginia Tech just managed to rake in a whopping 1 player outta the in-state or Virginia High school top-10! So allow me to put it to you directly and to put it to you thus…

…is Virginia Tech succeeding at failure, whereas uva is failing at success?
