VT up in Klondike country vs. Directional Washington….

Time to flex my hoop’ology, Orange and Maroon style. But can we will? Was Elon that good? Are we that underdeveloped? Read on to find out……

Yes. Kinda. No better than kinda. Those are the correct answers to the above questions. But lets talk about tonight, Eastern was blow out in the fabled “Pit” of New Mexico, blown out by a surprisingly highly ranked Washington State, and nearly blown out by the up-tempo Washington Huskies. The Eagles did beat So.Cal’s favorite annual D-1 doormat, U.C. Riverside, a team that has won 4 times vs. D-1 opponents in their last 36 tries. Eastern only has two players north of 10 points per game, and only one player north of 4.5 boards per game.

Last year Eastern finished a very lofty 3rd in NC2A Scoring Offense, this year they are all the way down to 323rd. That’s more than a drop, that’s an Eagle in a “Mayday! Mayday!” free-fall and then some. EWU is almost as bad from the floor, 321st on the year, though they are oddly enough 13th in free-throws. On top of that EWU is closing in on last place in rebounding, as they field a remarkably low -55 total boards margin after only 4 starts.

Ergo, I gotta like our chances, at least in the first game, beyond that, I would not hold my oil pipeline breath on this trip. VT=68, EWU=60 b’street
