VT’s Total Offense ranking=112th. But where do you rank VT’s offensive Talent???

Start whomever, wherever you please. Run any type of offense you like. You are now the Orange & Maroon offensive coordinator of Virginia Tech…………

  • Wanna sit Ore for Ken.Lew.Jr? “Go for it.”
  • Wanna start SG, Ike, Holt, Boone, or T-Mobile at Qb? Do it.
  • Wanna start 2 or 3 or 4 WR’s? Make it happen.
  • Maybe a full-time Jumbo 2 TE look? Done.
  • Whatever OLine combo you want; anything goes.

Now…….let’s make it even more interesting; let’s include all offensive injuries up till this point during the 2007 football season. So, working with what’s left……………where would you rank VT’s current offensive Talent level? This is your poll, and it is a very subjective poll, no real right or wrong here, just then mental ante of your very own three cents. So lets hear what you have to say.

Outta of all 119 D-1 football teams, where do you peg the current raw VT offensive Talent level??? TIA. b’street

(update, post todays chat with the always adroit Mr. Chris Coleman)

C2 just made an A+ point to me, forgive me Chris, but this is too good, so I’m gonna parrot your take.

The grass is green, the sky is blue, and Grant Noel was just not a stellar Qb. He was not even an average D-1 Qb for that matter. Now compare him to SG. SG has the better Arm, runs much better than GN (not a brilliant runner, but easily above GN), and SG is pretty heady in terms of reading and studying a given defense as well.

Now lets take a retro-look back at the VT offense in 2001, under 1st year Qb Grant Noel, who was under Ricky “….ticky-tock, but my offense ran out the clock.” Bustle:

  • Rushing=26th
  • Passing=86th
  • Passing Efficiency=67th
  • Total Offense=64th

Now fast-forward to 2007 under Sean Glennon, a returning starter, who is under Stiney:

  • Rushing=96th (70 spots in decline)
  • Passing=102nd (16 spots the wrong way)
  • Passing Efficiency=80th (13 to the bad)
  • Total Offense=64th (down by 48)

So has the VT offensive talent reversed itself that much since 2001??? b’street
