However, and in lieu of an 11-man blitz or rush to judgement, let’s crunch some numbers, let’s see if this much cash, payola, or straight-butter might just change your mind…

…as here is what the VT Coast of Attendance stipend, AMOUNTs, too!

Virginia Tech’s Cost of Attendance stipend for football=$3,280 for in-state, and $3,620 for out-of-state. Paid twice a semester for on-campus ballers, three times a semester for those who can live off-campus.

  1. I can’t think of any place that there isn’t a set of Rules , Regulations, Punishment if Needed in our Society . Nothing New about setting a standard ..

  2. I thought I saw a screen shot that mentioned loss of game tickets. Was that an option in lieu of money? TIA.

    1. That was a separate page, describing the fines if you showed up to pregame workouts and such in the wrong uniform combination

  3. All I know is that when I was 19-20 in college and you gave me ~$1.5K a month for just “living expenses” other than rent and tuition (not including books and on campus food), then I would be getting into a lot of trouble on my off nights.

  4. That kind of dough would’ve kept me in weed and pizza when I was in college.
    Well, weed anyway.

  5. There is nothing wrong with the idea of fines. The stipend must be earned not just with play, but with off field behavior as well. Bad behavior has consequences in the real world and none of the fines I have seen are over-bearing. No need for cancellation or an apology.

  6. I think using the stipend would not be fair but using the game tickets and bowl per diem would be defensible along with physical activities as punishment.
