An emotional start to an emotional day, God Bless all 32.

Though ECU and VT have played 30 minutes, and here’s what I’m seeing………..we looked flat, ECU looked jacked up to begin…

Then it was kinda looked like the CFA Bowl had been awarded a 5th quarter of play, as Glennon opened up by throwing a dart about 4 yards behind our WR, right to the wide-open ECU LB P.Bell who was correctly spying for another short throw from us. Then Morg’ #2, not Ike, could only wait 4 minutes and change before committing his first Personal-Foul of 2007. Geez! Not a pretty start. Glennon still seems too wound up to start games, but he does get better and settle down after several series of play. See: the return of the Druckenmiller’esq play-action to Hyman. I loved seeing that!

Overall, I’ve been saying since Bud changed his defense, you gotta run right at Bud, up the gut between the OT’s, and at least try to negate our lateral team speed. The Nati listened, so did GT last year, ECU is doing just that today.

We have 6 rushing yards, and well, that’s just plain ole bad. We are not able to hold our blocks for very long, not opening many holes either, and I have to give ECU cred, their defense is very fast for a mid-major conference. ECU is out-rushing us by a 14 yards to 1 yard ratio! Go fig’ on that?!?

To his cred, Skippy Hotlz has coached a nice game, he’s run a version of Dean Smith four-corners offense, running, running, and throwing short to shorten the game. That’s a pretty shrewd visiting startegym for traveling to play inside the uber vociferous Lane Stadium.

Nice big mo’ swing play by “Macho”! We needed that, and we needed that badly at that.

Here is the ESPN360 link to watch on-line, if you are somewhere where you can not see the game on TV.

We will settle down, hit another ST’s or Defensive score, then slowly wear the ECU defense down. b-st.

Revised prediction: VT 29 ECU 7
