Is now seeing a Hokie Offense with the *confidence* to win out—->b’street

Notice I did not type, a -dominate- Hokie offense, nor a superlative Hokie offense. But I might be willing to dabble in a……hitting it’s stride Hokie offense…….maybe even…..

  • getting in synch
  • reading from the same page
  • nailing down its timing

Or is a season high 481 in total yards last nite, and a kool average of nearly 400 yards (397 for those of you keeping score at home) over the last three games really a signature of just how much much maligned Sean Glennon has come of age? That’s an improvement of nearly 104 yards of total offense since SG started punching the starting Qb time clock once again, and stopped punching himself for being second place. But what do I mean?

I asked last nite if benching SG had actually helped SG out? I really like how bubbavt1 put it. SG went from looking over his shoulder (which SG admitted bothered him last year with Ike; and I suggest was on his mind again this year with T-Mobile); to trying to win his job back. I doubt many 2nd team Pivots spend much time over on the proverbial pine sitting around eye-balling the side-view mirror for a tailgating 3rd or 4th team Qb; and we all know what the warning label reads on said side-view mirrors. Therefore, post benching; SG appears to have gone from the hunted to the Hunter! And guess what, this role seems to be a custom fitted Armani suit for SG’s sometimes snappy and always feisty personality. Ergo, I now get the intrinsic sports psych vibe (thank you Dr. Minnix for that); that SG and the VT offensive crew are actually gaining confidence. I say this because it’s clearly not OLine health that they are gaining, as the OLine is once again a juggling act of hodge-podge juxtaposed or not yet fully D-1 ripe pieces. Nor is it wide-receiving or TE health we have gained, as we are experiencing attrition in both areas now (major attrition for the TE’s). B.Ore has improved a bit, but he’s still way off from where he was this time last year with back to back 200 yard games, and we still do not have a reliable caddy for Mr. Ore who is not as reliable as he was in 2006 in the first place.

So maybe the light is about to flicker fully on; the game is now officially slowing down; or SG is about to become a real live quality D-1 Qb and maybe T-Mobile does get to r-shirt after all (by sitting for SG’s senior year in 2008)??? And oh by the way, the faux pompous course marshals are looking the other way, I suggest at least a rousing golf clap is in order for one Coach Stiney as well. b’street
