Tech Thoughts: bourbonstreet interviews, well, …bourbonstreet!

Today bourbonstreet, interviews, well, himself!

And says a few techsideline.com and/or message-board things, along with a  few Virginia Tech things, that he’s just always wanted to say.

Unplugged, acoustic, uncensored, unalloyed and unfettered, for your viewing pleasure.

  1.  Q What do you know now (about TSL) that you did not know then (when you started)???p riles

    A.
There are 2 times more and less, that are accepted or even occasionally, welcoming times in which to write a more critical piece. Precisely the same as coach Pat Riley pointed out in the Winner Within… today’s ballers, and perhaps ballers of all era’s, listen longest and listen best, right before the big big pressure packed-game, or right after an L. Exact, same, thing, in terms of more honest, direct and truly seminal R.A.T.T. techsideline.com publications. These work best right before the big big game or right after -unfortunately- a Hokie L.
  2. Q. What was the funnest day in the history of all the TSL.com message board frivolity? (Steve Logan day, “MY BOARD”, MS-paint day………….whatever……..)

    A.
Me? I was a huge huge fan of the original Steve Logan day! Right after coach Logan told ESPN.com precisely what was ‘rong with the Frank-n-Stiney offense.
What does Steve Logan do when he wants to see a giraffe? He uppercuts a horse! (classic!)
  3. Q. What do you enjoy most about TSL right now?
    A
    .
The remaining good discussion days, something novel, neo or original, or a big news day (pro or con); when suddenly the ole joint starts popping like non-D.Trump savvy Mexican jumping-beans.
  4. Q. What would you most want to see more (or less of) on TSL???

    A.
More? More self-policing! Will and Chris just can NOT possibly review every single post. The posters that just look for confrontation, and seemingly begin most posts with a negation or negative word (“no”, “wrong” or “not”) in the first three words of any subject line, need to experience the Battle of Midway. And have their ass run right into the drink!

Less? Less down-v0ting. Just because of a long (wounded) memory -or should I say: hubris- in such a vindictive way. Let the content or message stand on its own | try divorcing it from the given user-name; see how that goes…As someone could announce the cure for cancer on TSL.com, and sure as God made sunshine and puppy-dogs? Someone could down-vote the curator, nevertheless…
  5. Q.  What is the most surprising thing you have learned regarding VT football, overall, or in particular, in all your years on TSL.com? WHY???Xs Os

    A. How cutesie and self-enamored the modern era football game has truly become.

So very lexicon driven, so much play-calling spoon-feeding or the dumbing down of the game itself, and hard. As try as we might, football still ain’t rocket-surgery men! It is a very elemental, basic and fundamentally driven enterprise. Repeat after me: “Block, Tackle … win!” Rinse, recycle, repeat…

That, or… just how much this entire football program, (i.e staff, front-office, backdoor, et al.) truly love love love love love, the man otherwise known as Frank Beamer! If you doubt the severity of their love for this man??? Notice how NOBODY has broken rank and said anything, regarding his throat-surgery! Nobody, not one. Who knew one man could (still) inspire such premier and nonpareil loyalty in the modern FB.com social-media enlightenment ethos purgatory of today?

(bonus content: I gave consideration to the on-going battle the Training Staff so gallantly fights to smoke-out or reeducate ballers regarding that which is actually good to put into one’s body. When there are so very many mythpreceptions here, generally professionally engendered or Top—->down)

Which answer best describes your opinion on the job bourbonstreet is currently doing covering VT sports?

    1. Man, I’m tellin’ yah what… desperate for material for TSL each & every summer—->b.street

  1. Love your stuff! Maybe you can provide subtitles or translations. I am getting better at interpreting the metaphors.

    1. Right on!
      Good on you Embrey.
Honestly, (most) everyone is getting better and better.

      It does take time.
As I do not write on a low-brow level.
THANK you prof’ God and PRAISE be to Williams Hall @VT; not gonna, either.

      bigeiii

  2. BStreet you bring it like no other, an “Original”.

    Be Easy

    1. “B.E.”

      Dang.

A girl once told me that in an L.a. swimming pool, and then…

  3. So when are we going to see the video footage from this epic interview?

    1. Allegedly, my new notebook CPU has an embed web-cam’.

I am actually toying with this idea…
…(might be more 2015 of me, and less Intellivsion)

    1. There will be some mo’.

the P.C. police have curb stomped me a few times.

  4. Mining ’91 damn you graduated with one of my best friends. Mining Eng. ain’t that big!

  5. B-street…I enjoy your commentary. I sometimes struggle with your lexicon, and will often disagree with your takes…sometimes you make me downright mad, as if you are just looking to do exactly that!

BUT, your takes are always well thought out and well presented with facts to back them up when available. Consequently, you have changed my mind about things on more than one occasion as a result of your rational debate – not always man, let’s not get carried away here :>)

The bottom line for me is, whether I agree or not, I enjoy what you bring. I know that you are absolutely 100% behind the Hokies; win, lose or draw. Can’t really ask much more than THAT out of a fan!

    Party on Garth………….

    1. Well thank you!

That was one of the kinder things ever said re: my publications.
I appreciate anyone will to listen/consider, THEN eval’.
      (PROPs on you RIT!)

  6. Though technically pre-TSL, my funniest day for the website was The Girls of Hokie Central calendar……. it was so beautifully done (approx. April 1, 1998, 1999….)

  7. I had no idea he was repping the ‘304’ as a fomer Beav. Only 30 minutes away from the Legend

    1. Yup.

      Just hope we beat graham.
(and stop (new) Coach Palmer, before he gets started)

  8. B’St, did you play college ball? If not, how did you get where you are, i.e., resident under the radar current occupant guru?
    Old coot

    1. No Sir.

Beamer pulled my Dooley walk-on offer.

In short? Basically (thanks @Coach God), I made two stunning pass catches in Dooley’s final
football camp. One won the scrimmage on a Flag pattern to the right or even side. And they
invited me over and then a couple of months later –outta the clear O&M blue sky, the offer
and the big ass NC2A guideline manifesto suddenly showed up.

I got all that X’s and O’s businesses from Instant Replay (Jerry Kramer’s penultimate year under Lombardi), and coach Bourne (truhokie’s dad, on TSL). I asked a lotta questions Sir. And I was/am Blessed to ask them from a 6-time state champion and a 2-time state champion. So the credit is all theirs.

  9. B-street, I always get fired up when I get a comment back on any of my posts from you. It kills me that people still disregard the content of posts if they don’t judge you to have enough posts in your history but you never do that. You’re always a breath of fresh air on the message boards and with your content. Keep up the great work. More eye in the skys…

    1. Well, thank you ’99!
      : )

Frank should OK.Drill or bull-n-the-ring some of our fans. I’m not joking.
We’ve really softened up by-the-bye since that 10 win run came to a close.
(that’s what a whole lotta that nonsense is)
      : (

  10. Well sorry Mr. Street, I voted less than average on the pole question not because of content; which I always view as spot on… yes I can follow damn near everything you say (does that make me odd?), but because I don’t see enough from you any more. I realize your real job and life might pay the bills but I feel your true calling may just be to enlighten the rest of us on all things Hokie. Work less write more, party on! Geaux Hokies!!!

  11. Hey man, I’m curious as to how the game has been dumbed down.

I find it pretty complex; e.g., I love watching games with a friend/coach who played OL at Liberty just to get him to explain OL play to me (especially zone blocking).
