If you like old-fashioned, bare basics football, this is your team.

Not a whole lot of panache, cachet, or any other fancy word about this crew. Just a simple pigskin methodology of you must run to win, while you stop the other team from doing the same. No frills, nothing fancy, just rugged middle of the filed dominance that has produced 4 straight January Bowl bids, and no less than 9 wins since 2003. 2008 returns 18 starters so both streaks will continue this year.

11th Wisconsin Badgers (Big-10) : You won’t see Whisky ranked this high by anyone else to my knowledge. But this is yet another best-ever candidate for the given Head Coach and therefore very likely Coach Bielema’s best team. Whisky could possibly field the best mix of Rb’s and OLinemen in all of D-1. That’s a vital, or even a bottleneck historically proven necessary ingredient to Big-10 success. Big-10 football is very reminiscent of WWI, as it is typically won on the ground. The one offensive thing Whisky does need is a big year out of senior, yet first year starting Qb Alllen Evridge. Al will be conservative and have time to grow however behind a truly mammoth OLine that brings 4 back. But he needs to spread his throws around a bit more. As last year the leading Badger Wideout had exactly 300% more catches than anybody else (he returns as well as 3 of the top-4 other pass catchers). On defense the Badgers have 9 back, with no less than 6 all-conference candidates in their front-7 and 3 returning starters in their secondary. On top of all of that, Whisky has no worse  than the second best Kicker and the first best return specialists in the Big-10. Strengths=brutal front lines on both sides of the ball to control the LOS, experience.  Needs to improve=tough road schedule this year, pass protection needs a little work.

If they played: VT=19 Whisky=16
