Lottsa polls have this team #1. They are short on correct.

Oddly enough, this team is ranked #1 in not only the Associated Press Poll, but #1 in the former U.P.I. Coach’s (now the USAToday) Poll. Even odder is the fact that this team has picked up exactly 22 votes in each poll ahead of different teams who placed #2; even though the same team placed 1st, 4th, 5th 8th, and 9th in each poll.  Still with me?

In other words, there is .5 overlap or a 50% agreement between the two man Human Polls Top-10 and a variance of .5 or 50% on the rest. Confused yet? Well how confusing is it to have everyone’s #1 checking in at #7???

7th Georgia Bulldogs (SEC): Having 8 back on offense, and 9 back on defense from a very strong 2007 2nd ranked to end the year football team is no bad way to open 2008. That said, having 5 guys suspended to start the year and your blindside-Ot out for the year is more than a hint that these Bulldogs need a visit to the nearest obedience school. And while they are at it, Coach Richt might wanna codify his discipline laundry-list, as Coach Richt has routinely doubled or halved previous suspensions at his own personal whim. The issue here is not talent, nor experience; it’s the fact that the Bulldogs play what several publications have listed as the toughest schedule in all of D-1. Four brutal SEC road dates have taken some bite outta UGA to me. But the Bulldogs have an epic defense, the best in the SEC, with a talkable chance to be the best in D-1. UGA has 6 back in their front-7 and all but 1 back in their secondary. UGA is fast and explosive on defense lead by the best Dt in the SEC in one Geno Atkins, and possibly the 2nd best Dt in Torrey Davis. On Offense the Bulldogs have the best Qb in the SEC in Matt Straford, and several all-conference quality skill position guys. The Bulldog OLine needs to find 1 new G and now 2 new Ot’s, to go along with a rookie place-Kicker and not to mention some program-wide discipline; if they are to finish higher than 10th ranked football team. Strengths= teamwide experience, speedy yet physical defense. Needs to improve=Special Teams, road docket, Oline, Discipline.

Not a very disciplined crew, our best shot in the Top-7 without a doubt.

VT 26 UGA 20 in OT.
