There can only be one #1.

Three national championship game appearances since 2002? Yes.

Two outright championships over that same timeframe? Yes.

A perfect 2008 running the entire table all the way from start to finish? Yes. This is your title team in my book, as the few who could have beaten this C’bus crew have had some hurts and some discipline problems of late, and nobody has a better helmet logo award than this squad does.

1st, The Ohio State (Big-10): You are reading it here first, OH.St. is catching So.Cal at just the right time. They win in September but could be beaten in a re-match; should that occur. You are also reading this…OH.St. has the best defense I’ve seen in at least 10 years. Maybe a lot more. 9 are back off of the defense that was 1st best by an astounding 40 yards of Total Defense last year! The Buckeyes must replace 1 De and 1 OLb and that’s it. 10 of the OH.St. defensive starters are listed as all-conference candidates. Nuff typed. On offense the Buckeyes have what some are calling the best Rb in D-1 (Beanie Wells, who is now healthy), a Crais Kenzel clone with a mini-me Tebow back-up at Qb. All Buckeye pass catchers return, and to crown all of that glory, Ohio State easily has the deepest OLine, and possibly the best starting OLine in all of D-1. The cherry on top is the luxury of fielding the leading K and P in the Big-10, and one of the best Pr’s to boot.  And if that’s not enough Poppa Laurinaitius is none other than Road  Warrior Animal! Strengths=brutal frontlines, maybe the best Defense of all-time??? Needs to improve=Kickoff Returns, nothing else.
