Virginia Tech vs. Seton Hall in Brooklyn!

#68 R.P.I. Virginia Tech vs. #100 R.P.I. Seton Hall:

This will be a very short Virginia Tech basketball preview. VT wins! There I’m done!

Just kidding; well, sorta just kidding.

Though here is what I could cobble together in bullet format regarding Seaton Hall in 1 hour or less, hope this helps your wining pick!

  • Picked 9th or 10th in the ten team Big East by most.
  • 2-horse team
  • Fuquan Edwin is a 6’6’’ 215 lb. senior swing who is second in scoring at 14.2 ppg, and is easily the best defender on the court for tonties game, prolly a Pro just for his defensive acumen
  • Sterling Gibbs is the truth as Texas transfers go. 6’1’’ second-year Pt.Guard who is a scoring Point-G if there ever was one.
  • Patrik Auda scores in double digits (12) and nobody else does! 6’9’’ 225 lb. Four who has been hampered by a busted foot. Coach God Bless! Solid  P/F known for rebounding and range on his J. 75% from the floor this campaign! (UPDATE: Auda was hurt (same foot) again last nite and is now listed as “out indefinitely” yikes! + Godspped Patrik!)
  • Gene Teague: 6’9’’ 270 lb. wide-body true-Center. Burly post who only shot 57% from the floor last year! Has cut 20+ lbs. since last year when he played closer to 300 lbs.
  • Haralds Karlis: other backcourt starter: 6’5’’ 185 lb. 2-guard; NOT known for his J nor his range on the same. More of a Wing who’s size is his greatest asset.

 Bench=about 3 deep:

  1. Brandon Mobley: adaptable big (6’9’’) who needs right mass (2o9 lbs.). Can score at times, though lacks consistency, has better than expected range.
  2. Brian Oliver, 6’6’’ 226 lb. senior year Swing. Experienced, multi-purpose substitute.
  3. Jaren Sina: VHT late April recruit; something of a coup as late signings go, .3o4% from the floor and 23% from the arc shows the adjustment period however is still underway.

 Closer:
The Seton Hall Pirates are 3 up and 2 down thus far. Three modest and expected pseudo or mid-major wins and then a L @ Mercer and last nite in a shoot-out vs. Oklahoma. Notice that the Pirates are an extremely user-friendly in defense of the 3-ball at an extremely inviting 346th best or 46.6% allowed from downtown in so-called defense of such. Not observe that the aggregate 3-point percentage margin favors Virginia Tech by a unheard of 25% per game head-to-head! These Pirates are not afraid to score and put up 80 ppg and change. The Hall does rebound ok at +4 boards per game. The Hall is said to have depth issues, though the most talented starting-5 in coach Willard’s four year term; although turnovers remain a concern after a Big East leading 514 last year.

From what I saw last nite, the truTv suits should get their monies worth here. Presuming Smitty and Eddie both remain hot; and they did appear to like the shooting lines-of-sight in the NJ.Nets professional crib; this one –just like TSL ledged UKSJ- should be a high-scoring affair.

That’s what I foresee, as coach J’s boys have to feel decent enough after having lead #1 Michigan State for the opening 15 odd minutes of play. And 48% last nite from downtown for Virginia Tech bodes well vs. an exceptionally deficient 3-point defensive team.

Virginia Tech=82, Seton Hall=77
