Let’s see…………………..can’t quite put my finger on it, however, there would appear to be an orange & maroon pigskin pulse in play here; once again! And do be clear here, this is nominally Will Stewart’s turf. He’s the physician of all things TSL; as it’s his baby after all. As it is Will -without peer- that does the best job of gauging the emotional pulse of the mighty Hokie Nation over the years. However, something fun is happening down in the New River Valley this August camp; and I for one can no longer resist!

Now and that being said, let us diagnose what this is not, before we actually begin administration, to what this truly is…
The TSL message boards are hopping, and yet the practices are all closed. The vibe of the Tech fan base is tremulous –and yet the once Public Scrimmages are now all privatized indeed.
So we know there is not a whole helluva a lot to see.

And do mind the objective science-fact that this is all coming from a former 10 win football program that has recently been forced to make terms with 11 L’s in the last two seasons. This after having posted a mere 11 L’s in total, in the penultimate or 48 months prior to all that.
Now we come to the mutual science-fact that nobody has us/Virginia Tech ranked very high in the national pre-season polls. 30’s, 40’s, though nothing that I can find that is inside of the much vaunted Top-25 in national terms outta the 127 aggregate D-1 men’s football teams in play this season.
In point of fact the USA Today per se coach’s poll has us slotted at 45th best pre-season, with Tech chasing or in Duke and Marshall’s six! (Not the other way around) So it’s not like we must be butter, because we’re on a roll –is it? We’ve just endured our lowest gridiron low since 1991-1992! So what gives?
So why are we all suddenly avid all over again?
You folks tell me???

Should be better offensively across the board. If Brewer can play we have hope.
I posit that the fact practices are closed actually helps fuel the excitement, as in it leaves us speculating what we will see rather than drawing conclusions from practice observations. I think Hokie Nation is in a hopeful/excited state with the Whit Era now underway and ever-improving coaching and talent coming into the program, and that combined with not observing all the growing pains and miscues in practice leaves most projections being optimistic.
